WARNING: Use these tools at your own risk. These tools were created by me and I have used them in production, but I cannot be held responsible for any damage they might cause.

Please do not use the code in any of these scripts without giving myself credit for the original creation.

Version Required: 3ds Max 9

Please report all errors to bugs@mathiesonfacer.com.

Installation:

  1. Right click here and save as to download the installer package.
  2. Drag and drop the file into your max viewport.
  3. Restart max and go to "Customize/Customize User Interface..."
  4. Find the tools under the category "facerFX Tools" and put them into your favourite quad menu or tool bar.

To uninstall drag the file "facerFX_uninstaller.ms", found your scripts directory, into your max viewport.

Alternatively, you can download each script individually by clicking on the tool's name. There is no automatic installation or macros set up when downloading the scripts individually and the scripts will be more prone to errors since the tools are designed to be a part of a package.

Download the facerFX Tools installer package by clicking here.

When selecting an object this tool will temporarily change the wirecolor of the selected object(s) children and parent(s) making it easy to see hierarchies right in your viewport.

Use the UI to customize the colors, enable/disable, and choose whether you want it to color just the immediate children and parent(s) or the entire hierarchy it belongs to.

Allows you to quickly and easily collect hundreds of materials in several different ways. (ie. scene materials, material edtior materials, missing bitmaps in scene, material libraries, materials from selected objects, etc.) These materials get added to a browser area where you can perform various operations on whichever ones you want.

Features include being able to transfer up to 24 materials at a time to the material editor, a renaming tool for materials, a quick rename button that names all materials to the same name as the object they are assigned to, and being able to quickly create materials with multiple maps from a template.

Freeze and/or zero-out transforms on objects while keeping all existing controllers in tact. This means any existing constraints, script controllers, expression controllers, noise controllers, etc., will still be there afterwards.

Just select the objects you want to freeze/zero-out and run the tool.

Organizes your entire scene at the click of a button.

All you have to do is name your layers and objects similarly according to how you'd like your scene to be sorted. (ie. Create a layer named "Box" and any objects in your scene with "Box" in the name will be put into this layer.)

Name the layers as specific as you need them to be. Objects that don't match the name a layer will remain in whatever layer they are currently in. Default layer is ignored during the process.
