This was a little animation Stephan Perreault and myself whipped up for a party that Humber School Of Media
Studies was having in the fall of 2006. It was used as an introduction for the animation program's class demo reel.
I created the rings in a rig using math to ensure that the rings actually appear to have traction with the adjacent surface while spinning. I also made it so the rings could be resized in both radius and thickness and the rate of speed could be changed. If any of these things were changed the rings would re-calculate on the fly and still have the illusion of traction.
